Reflection
This class was the best because we got to find out about the people who are in our class. I really loved everyone's slide show. The girl with the newspaper and the guy who was so involved with adobe photoshop and illustration. He really cared about his kids. Sharon this is a successful assignment. What an excellent class.

Reflection
One thing for sure as the end of school arrives, I forget more than ever to write these reflections. One thing that interested me last week was Jenny's comment about her son and using video games educationally. He had suggested a game using history and it made sense to me. This is such an exciting idea because kids love video games and if you can educate them while they are having fun.......well, it works.
Youth knows the computer and lives the computer as only youth who grew up with the computer can. This is so true but for someone my age (old) this idea is just incredible. It is like when I grew up TV started.

Reflection:
Everything I did tonight was incorrect and it made me crazy.
Copyright law.
Did not turn in the assignment.
Thought my web site assignment was done and it was not.
OK. I am going home.
Tonight we are learning about Designing Web Sites
4/23/07
I learned a great deal about copyrighting.
Now, my web site is minimal because I did not want to put alot of information on a sight that I was not going to use. When I make a page for my class I will use a professional web site maker.
This process was too confining. And it is nicely designed. I did use one piece of clip art in the high point book. That is why I said image composed by......

games are the future. how do you educate with games?
Because kids will do the game until they find the answer.

Reflection 4/11/2007
Last nights class was a learning experience.
First we learned how to make a web quest using
http://trackstar.4teachers.org/trackstar/mts/showAccount.do 316094
trackstar. I really see that this can be a valuable experience for our students.
The problem is that you must choose the web sites carefully. If you go to a web site and then you hit on this and that you lose the trackstar web quest. So one must plan the web search very carefully which I did not do and you can get lost on my web quest. And that is what I learned.
Making the web site was rather tricky. I have made web sites and I felt constricted using these templates. I understand how to write the html code and get things where I want them. So I found this frustrating. I connected three pages together and I feel ok about it as the time involved is relatively nothing compared to when you write the code. So that is a good thing.
It was a fast paced and learning evening.

Reflection
Last week's class had an activity called "Technology across the Curriculum."
This was the first part of the evening. My partner and I worked as quickly as possible and I did not feel that we were able to achieve the wanted results in the time span given. It was significant because two people have a lot of ideas to give to one another.
The most significant part of the evening occurred quite by chance and it was about a law suit on transition goals. I found how important it is to use the correct language in goals. For example using the words plan instead of will.
I discussed this litigation with my director of special education and was assured that our goals are written correctly. I learned a great deal about language.

This is the class assignment
Sharon this never got delivered to your email from Tuesday's class
so I am trying this method.
There is no fancy table.
Student
Cesar is a middle school student with SLD – in Reading/ vocabulary
He also has a difficult time focusing his attention
He is a teenager who is more interested in being cool and avoiding work than completing assignments.
Cesar and I have a great relationship. He got a girl pregnant during the summer, started smoking lots of dope and came back to school a lost 9th grader. He was one of my best students last year – raising his reading from 2.5 to now 5th grade. Although he does not like to work he will. Today we were writing a paragraph and he was avoiding the assignment. I sat down with him one on one and worked through the assignment with him. The AT for Cesar is minimal yet I believe it would be effective. 2nd graphic organizer I used was for the Topic Sentence. Who, What, and Why. By simply answering these questions at the end of reading the topic sentence is done.
Environment
Needs a small group environment for focus.
Cesar needs motivation to start task and continue. By supplying him with a personal tape recorder with the featured story for him to listen to he will feel special and yet keep his focus. On a computer he would be on U-tube in 2 minutes.
Task
Task is writing a paragraph and the first AT that would help Cesar to complete his task would be to listen to the reading out loud.
By using a simple CD player with earphones he can keep focused and read along with the book. This helps him focus on the reading. After listening to the specific pages he can begin the writing assignment.
The writing assignment is arranged by asking 3 questions that correspond to the 3 supporting sentences. These questions are written on a piece of paper that each student has a copy of.
A graphic organizer is used for writing the paragraph. Topic sentence: Supporting sentences, Details for each and conclusion
Second, http://reallygoodstuff.com/default.aspx
From this site I found colored tape that I could use to highlight the three questions on the work sheet that would assist him to stay focused.
